The impedance

The impedance is a quick review, painless and non-invasive way that easily allows to objectify the presence of fluid in the middle ear (payment endotimpanico), changes in air pressure in the middle ear and to assess the presence of stapedial reflexes.A small probe is placed in the external ear canal so that it adheres perfectly to the walls of the external ear canal. This probe produces a continuous sound and a variable pressure on the tympanic membrane pressurizing and depressurizing the air.
By analyzing the amount of reflected sound you can figure out the elasticity of the tympanic membrane which will be maximum when the middle ear pressure is equal to the one generated by the sensor.
You will be able thus to quantify the pressure of air in the middle ear that will be 0 under normal conditions (Type A tympanogram), negative in some forms of payment endotimpanico attention-deficit and functionality of Eustachian tube causing a retraction of the tympanic membrane (type C tympanogram), positive on rare forms of issues related to barotraumas.
If the middle ear is completely flooded by liquid or pus (acute otitis media or important payment endotimpanico) don't you see any trips of the tympanic membrane changing pressure and tympanogram will be flat (Type B).
The impedance allows to study the presence of stapes: a mechanism that protects the inner ear by reducing the ability of auditory ossicles to transmit sounds when exposed to high intensity sounds. The absence of riflssi type A tympanogram poses with suspected stapedial Otosclerosis.
